Reversing to the right ...
Reversing to the right is rarely tested during the driving test - the examiner will normally only ask you to reverse to the right if you take the test in a vehicle with restricted rear visibility.
However, being able to reverse to both the left and right are essential skills in everyday driving; you will need the skill when parking in car parks, reversing into driveways and other similar situations.
When doing this exercise, as with all your special manoeuvres, you will be the odd one out, which means that you must be fully aware of what is happening all around, all the time.
Your 'OWL-like' observation is especially important on this exercise because you are starting on the ‘wrong’ side of the road.
When you have mastered the skills in this section, you will be able to reverse safely into a side road on the right using proper observation, under full control and with reasonable accuracy.
