Moving off

In order to move off safely there are a number of simple steps that you can take. These are summarised in the Prepare-Observe-Move routine (POM for short).

Each aspect of this routine is explained in this section.

Before learning about the POM routine, it will be useful to know more about your rear-view mirrors and their limitations.

Whether or not you learn to move off as part of your first driving lesson, you will need to practice the routine for as long as necessary to ensure that each aspect becomes second nature.
